Impressions from the Pelicans second preseason game

I was lucky enough to attend last night’s game, where the Indiana Pacers defeated the New Orleans Pelicans 113-96. The first impression seemingly everyone would make is that Anthony Davis struggled. He ended up with 12 points and 6 rebounds in 18 minutes, but he was very inefficient on the offensive end of the floor. It seemed like every one of his shots was short, which could link to the knee surgery he had in the offseason. He may not yet trust the knee and this could impact its explosiveness. Buddy Hield looked good, getting off to a fast start and then having some foul trouble which  forced him to exit the game and lose his  momentum. He ended up with 18 points. He showed some skill besides shooting, which could be big for the Pels. Some other quick bits:

  • Solomon Hill was rarely involved in the offense, but his defense looked good
  • E’Twuan Moore’s shooting was off but overall looked good. showed some nice playmaking
  • Tim Frazier had some very nice passes but struggled on defense
  • Terrence Jones looked good enough to make the team
  • Ee miss the playmaking of Jrue Holiday and Tyreke Evans
