The Pelicans beat the Nets 104-95 on Thursday, despite the fact that Anthony Davis sat out with a hip injury. For those who do not remember, Davis was injured as a result of falling into the stands as a result of a hard foul committed by Kyle O’Quinn of the Knicks. Even though he did not play against the Nets, other players stepped up and got the win. Leading the way was Tyreke Evans, who had 29 points, 4 rebounds, 4 steals, 3 rebounds, and a block off the bench. Evans has continued to show improvement after coming back from an injury earlier in the season. Terrence Jones also had a good game for the Pelicans, racking up 24 points and 12 rebounds. Jrue Holiday also added 21 points. Despite the win, it was a rough night for multiple Pelicans. Buddy Hield only had 5 points on 2-9 shooting, and new addition Donatas Motiejunas had only 1 point on 0-7 shooting in 19 minutes of play. As a team, the Pelicans shot only 34% from three, but luckily the Nets could only manage 21%. The win against the Nets marks the second straight victory for the Pels, who hope to continue the streak against the Bulls in Chicago on Saturday.
